![]() Next game I'd like to make it harder with some mods. But of 10 other races, only 3 are even a little aggressive.) (Went with my usual strategy, which is to focus on speed and missiles for combat, adding one type of colony, and getting to atmospheric modification. I'm in the late game slog now - spent all my racial points on research ability (up 45%), have an unmatchable lead on planets and tech and intel and resources, and it's just a matter of time before I kick the shit out of the next biggest guy enough to drop his score so I win by having 3x the score of the next highest score. In the first game I'm playing I didn't add any mods (in part because doing so with Steam is a pain in the ass, I think) and I'm finding it too easy. It has its roots in the original space empires all the way back in the Windows 3.0 days when you had to start your computer in DOS and then boot up windows in a command line interface. ![]() I had a serious hankering for 4x with tactical turn-based combat. Space Empires IV is a 4X about twenty years old at this point and still highly regarded as one of the best 4X ever made. For no reason at all, I re-bought from Steam and downloaded SEIV while away this weekend.
